If you've been wondering about the buzz, it's true. HBO has agreed to sell some of its most popular shows on Apple's iTunes starting Tuesday.

The pricing is based on the show and ranges from $1.99-$2.99 per episode. If you are an avid watcher of "The Sopranos", "Sex and the City", "Deadwood", you can conveniently choose an episode that you have not seen and download it from your personal computer. After that, watch it on your PC or your iPod at your leisure.

This could be the first step into a new era of prominence for downloadable video. Apple has previously been in discussion with major movie studios to sell downloadable new releases, although not much progress has been achieved. Studios largely have seemed hesitant since Apple's CEO, Steve Jobs, has requested that the movie studios allow new releases to be sold for $3 or less. HBO, with its widely lauded, edgy content, might prove to be the trendsetter in this regard. The "iPod of movie studios," if you will.
