Jesús Chavarría’s entrepreneurial career spans more than 30 years of leadership and strategic management since his founding of HispanicBusiness Inc. in 1979.

HispanicBusiness Media, the nation’s preeminent U.S. Hispanic b2b print and online publication company, also offers informational and recruitment services and events. The company is also a 21st century integrated media company.

A leader and advocate for Hispanic small and middle-market businesses, Mr. Chavarría has received numerous professional distinctions for pioneeing the growth and recognition of Hispanic entrepreneurs nationwide. His awards and honors include the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Association of Hispanic Advertising Agencies and Business Journalist of the Year from the Small Business Administration for his work as the voice and mentor of Hispanic entrepreneurs. As editor of HispanicBusiness Magazine, he has received two MAGGIE Awards and the Minority Media Cornerstone Award from the U.S. Department of Commerce. On Jan. 19, 2006, Mr. Chavarría was inducted into the Minority Business Hall of Fame & Museum.

Mr. Chavarría holds a doctorate in history from UCLA and has served on the faculties of the University of Wisconsin and the University of California at Santa Barbara. Before his teaching career, he served with the U.S. Army in Europe and was project officer for the International Development Foundation in South America. He has served on the boards of the California Council for the Humanities and the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

JUAN SOLANA, PH.D.

CHIEF ECONOMIST/DIRECTOR OF NEW MEDIA BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT

Juan Solana is the Chief Economist at HispanTelligence®, the research division of Hispanic Business Inc., as well as the Director of New Media Business Development.

With HispanTelligence, Mr. Solana oversees the development of customized strategic projects and market-oriented reports such as the Hispanic Consumers, the U.S. Hispanic Economy, Hispanics and Demand for Financial Services, Access to Capital for Hispanic-owned Business, the Hispanic Business 500®, and other tracking studies on the U.S. Hispanic economy. As Director of New Media Business Development, Mr. Solana manages the procuring of content for the online properties of Hispanic Business Inc. as well as securing corporate partnerships.

An expert in his field, Mr. Solana has appeared on CNN, NPR, and Bloomberg to discuss key trends pertaining to the U.S. Hispanic economy. He has also appeared as a source for the New York Times, Washington Post, Miami Herald, Business Week, Expansión, La Clave, and La Opinión.

Mr. Solana holds a bachelor's degree in economics and business from Universidad Complutense de Madrid in his native Spain, as well as a Master of Science in international economics and a Ph.D. in economics from Purdue University. He also serves on the Advisory Council to Certified Financial Planners' Board and Hispanic Business's Board of Economists.

BILL KRUTZEN

DIRECTOR OF NEW MEDIA OPERATIONS

A former educator, teacher trainer, and vocational counselor, Bill Krutzen has more than 15 years of experience in the vocational, educational, and adaptive technology arenas. He is responsible for the operations of Hispanic Business Media's online properties. Mr. Krutzen directs professional teams in the operations, customer service, and online sales departments.

Beginning his career as an educator in 1984, Mr. Krutzen served as a master teacher and teacher trainer specializing in behavioral and adaptive technology. In 1997, he began working with California's Employment Development Department and soon thereafter as a vocational counseling specialist for the County of Santa Barbara Workforce Resource Center.

Mr. Krutzen holds a Master of Education degree and a Bachelor of Arts in developmental psychology from the University of California, Santa Barbara. He joined Hispanic Business Media in March 2000.
