In 1986, when Linda Chanves left her job under Reagan to run as a Republican in a Senate campaign against Democrat Barbara Mikulski in Maryland. Chavez was criticized for trying to out Mikulski as a lesbian. Mikulski won the election. Now Linda strongly critizes Sonia Sotomayor for being a "Wise Latina" this time we are going to gain more not just a Wise Latina, but a Brilliant Supreme Court Justice! For centuries non minorities have been playing the race Cards but when minorities learn to play the game - we are highly critized. Obama is outsmarting his critics - Sonia Sotomayor is making us all very proud by showing all that Yes, you can grow up in the Bronx - Attend the Finest universities and if you live a life with integrity, honor, & excellence you can reach your highest dream!

First of all, "shame on you" is not really an argument at all. It's just an empty-headed appeal to emotion. Chavez is absolutely right. Obviously all of you think that affirmative action is a wonderful thing. Did you know that the income levels, crime rates, marriage rates, and literacy rates of American blacks all improved steadily from 1920-1960, without affirmative action. Once this and the welfare state were implemened, their poverty rate doubled from 1963-1973. Did you know also that blacks and Hispanics have much higher drop out rates in the Ivy League? They were chosen not by merit but by color. This helps no one. I know that most of you are thoroughly brainwashed and this is basically like arguing with a turnip, but I hope at least one person has a brain out there.

Ms. Chavez, shame on you, as a Latino republican I defended you when you were deselected from your nomination, but you blew it by hiring an undocumented worker. You have no right and no shame for criticizing Ms. Sotomayor, where have you been? coming out only to hurt the Latino community, she deserves the position. She has the qualification you did not!

It's not surprising that she sits on many "diversity" committees yet is so far removed from the issues. First, she is of Spanish descent. Although we are categorized as Hispanic, the majority of people who are labeled such are NOT of Spanish descent. There is a clear delineation between Latinos (those of the Americas) and Hispanics and Chavez is in the latter category. Second, many politicians look for Hispanics because they want to appear as diverse yet seek out those that pass the Hispanic test yet are either far removed from the communities they supposedly represent or are "yes" men and women. Why should Sotomayor's cultural identity be any more of an issue than any politician who identifies as English, Irish, German, etc.? I see it as fear and bias.

I witness Linda Chavez on CNN and was surprise by her insensitivity to the majority of hispanics. Nothing she said would be convincing to hispanics, who are so proud of Judge Sotomayor. Instead, I was floored by all she put out there to tear Judge Sotamayor down. Chavez mentioned how she studied her grammar book. I wonder if she has ever picked up a bible and studied anything on being a good person, anything on humility, or love. Like the Jugde, I wonder if she ever did anything kind for hispanics in her community to help them to do better. Chavez may look hispanic, but I really don't think she understands what it means to be one. She's a hispanic puppet speaking on behave of the republicans....wonder how much she was paid for her nasty display? Linda Chavez, you're a sad case!

At least the firefighters Frank Ricci and lt Vargas from New Haven had the decency to refrain from sticking a knife in judge Sotomayor's back. When asked to state their opinions on the judge's SPCT nomination they both gentlemanly declined. Not so Ms Chavez when asked, she not only emphatically stated she did not support the judge but went on to inpugn the judges qualifications by calling her an affirmative action admitee at Princeton. When Senator Durbin [D Il] retorted by saying she graduated cum Laude. Chavez responded by saying she had to study hard and read grammar books, senator Durbin then said she finished first in her class in high school. Have you no shame Ms Chavez

Let me get this straight... Linda Chavez decries identity politics and is of mixed heritage and is just an "American" BUT she emerges selectively from her crypt to appear and stick a shiv into Sotomayor to make that point that "identity politics" is a sham and that one's ethnicity should be irrelevant. If this is true.. then why do we need Chavez? Couldn't they have sent Gretchen Carlson to make the same point? Also... does Chavez appear on Fox News to comment on issues NOT related to so-called "latin or hispanic issues". Why don't they invite her to discuss policy on Iran or economics or border issues with Canada? Instead she is the "attack latina" called up like an attack dog. Tara Setmyar and Michelle Malkin are used the same way. No more attack ethnics, please!

You have it totally wrong - - skin color and national origin has always determined who gets a job, promotion, etc., except it has always worked for the white folks. If it wasn't for Affirmative Action, women would not be allowed to vote today; the back of the bus would still exist; and I would be telling my daughters to either become a secretary or a housewife. SHAME ON YOU! How dare you critize Sonia Sotomayor the way you did - - you could never walk in her shoes!

I saw what Miss Chavez had to say yesterday in regards to Miss Sotomayor's nomination to the Supreme Court and I was outraged by her comments! As a latino, I am proud of this lady and her accomplishments and what it will mean to our race having her up there on the highest court of this land. Miss Chavez seems to me a jealous person because of what Miss Sotomayor is about to accomplish. She should be proud of what we are witnessing, which is History. Miss Chavez works for FOX news and it should not have come as a surprise her remarks.

Who is this Chavez women anyway?, trying to make a name for herself blasting Judge Sotomayor?, Get over Chaves, she will be confirmed by the Senate and as a Latina women I am very proud of Judge Sotomayo, If you can see your self how ridiculos you look and sound by critizising one of your own, or maybe you don't consider yourself a Latina wonmen if not change you last name, but don't embarras all of us..

I have read some of Linda Chavez's books, and have concluded she does not speak for the hispanic community. In the hispanic community she is irrelevant. The Republican use her as a mouth piece for their propaganda because of her hispanic last name and looks. However, that is all she has hispanic. I have never read anything about her involvement with the hispanic.
As a hispanic, I do not give much weight to any of her comments. Most of her observations of the hispanics are negative, unless she wants there vote when she is being used by the Repubican Party.

Fox analysts think alike, they dismissed any thoughs, ideas, alternatives, options, etc that do not coincide with their "conservative" views. Fox News and Linda Chavez especially seem to enjoy attacking any person that do not agree with their "righteous" and "obtuse" ideology. They cannot understand, nor comprehend that there are people in this country that believe that change is needed for the betterment of all of us not just one political party or ideology. It is time for the Fox News commentators, e.g Chavez, and others to THINK, ELABORATE, and present their counter-ideas or counter-views not ATTACK other folks because they are not in the same ideological page. Grow up and listen, be better and enhance our country. We report, fair and balance, you decide, yeah right!!!!
