Sometimes, a generically worded political memo requires one to read between the lines. But a recent message from California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger to the state Assembly invites one to read down the margins.
In a memo ostensibly meant to explain why he was vetoing a routine bill floated by Democratic San Francisco Assemblyman Tom Ammiano to help the port of San Francisco with finance issues, Schwarzenegger used language that was so dry as to be nearly meaningless. But a read down the the left-hand margin of the eight-line memo offers a clearer message: "F--- You."

The Schwarzenegger administration insists the frank phrase was a coincidence, but one pertinent fact seems to cast doubt on this claim: Ammiano recently made news for heckling Schwarzenegger at a public event, telling him to "kiss my gay ass."
