Conservative Author Launches FireDavidLetterman.com

June 15, 2009

Suzanne Heibel--HispanicBusiness.com

Following David Letterman's controversial joke about Sarah Palin's daughter, conservative author Michael Patrick Leahy has created FireDavidLetterman.com, a Web site that encourages citizens to abandon watching the Late Show and cease purchasing any products from companies that advertise during that hour.

Leahy, who according to his Twitter page (http://twitter.com/michaelpleahy) is from Nashville, Tenn., is attempting a grassroots movement to disband the late-night king from his show with the "call three friends" method, writing on blogs, and calling local radio stations. Letterman recently joked on the Late Show that ex-Vice-Presidential candidate Sarah Palin's daughter was knocked up by baseball star Alex Rodriguez when the two attended a Yankees game last week. Palin attended the game with her 14-year-old daughter, Willow, causing speculation that Letterman was making a sexual insult against an under-aged girl. Letterman explained the joke on his June 10 episode, contesting that he was making fun of Palin's 18-year-old daughter Bristol, who recently had her first child.

FireDavidLetterman.com suggests that Letterman "violate[d] common decency with sexist insults of 14-year-old girl," and its mission statement reads "David Letterman Must Be Held Accountable For His Disgraceful Statements." Leahy has organized an event scheduled for Tuesday, June 16, at 4:30 p.m. for anyone interested in taking action against Letterman. The rally will be held at the Ed Sullivan Theater at 1697 Broadway in New York City.

Exploitation and prostitution of minors is regular procedure for ‘Sarah ‘give me free’ Palin. Anything to dominate a news cycle and for political gain. Even promoting her poorly supervised, under educated, non self supporting, underage drinking, gang sign making, unmarried, sexually active, teenage mother, daughter with a former live in boyfriend, as the ambassador for abstinence. If anything, people should be boycotting Candies for the Bristol Palin Abstinence Lie. Sarah Palin is a lousy mother and a worse human being! PS: Who paid for Sarah ‘give me free’ and her dysfunctional clans’ last trip? Were free clothes and make up included too?

Way to go! David Letterman ceased to be funny a long time ago. Resorting to vulgar insults is not going to revive this embittered way-past-middle-age man. As for those of you who claim that Governor Palin is "putting her kids out there", what do say about all the other politicians' kids who are "out there", like the Obama girls? That indecent, vulgar, ill-mannered host of the Late Show does not make them the butt of his horribly vulgar jokes. And as a woman, I find his past jokes about Gov. Palin comparing with women who are waitresses, shop clerks, old, etc. very, very offensive.

Give it a rest you dorks, the Palins prance around for the media spotlight, sorry folks, but that makes anyone a target for late-night comedy. Abstenence, what a punch line - they're too dumb to get it! Those women should have had their tubes tied long ago.

Letterman should be let go. His comments regarding Palin's daughter should not be permitted. He has gotten away with talk like this for years. Let's call a hault to David Letterman's raunchy attacks on young as well as old people. He has proven he has no respect for others. Don't tell us it is all in fun! Dump David Letterman. Fire David Letterman: Reason he has for years said the most liberal views on his countrymen. If it were not for the military making free speech allowed in this country he would have been shot years ago. He is insulting, over bearing, bragging on his living with a woman getting her impregnated, finally married her after Dr. Phil kept saying make an honest woman out of his wife and to do the right thing. I will never watch the show ever again, I will not buy wht is sponsored on his show, We should boycot the companies that sell what is advertised. Get Dave and his white socks off the stage. Give someone else the opportunity to make a decent living. He makes millions and for what. You do not need to say much for people in the central part of this country are not stupid.

Please, get rid of David Letterman. This note is from a concerned retired teacher in Spokane, Washington's District #81. May God Bless the Palin family. Thank you. Cordially, Gary Fry Priest Lake, Idaho

Stop buying products from the $ponsor$ of this 'not very funny' David Letterman, you will get the attention of CBS. Hit them in their pur$e and they re-act. What he said was despicable! Maybe Letterman should watch Johnny Carson re-runs and see what 'funny and talented' is all about. Johnny would never have stooped this low. Letterman is yesterday's news and CBS should let him go. CBS did not seem to have a problem firing IMUS (who profusely apologized) and Letterman's comments were more derogatory and aimed at a teenager! Let's see if Moonves has the common sense and courage to give Letterman the boot, or watch his profit$ go. Matt Lauer should go as well. He is a stupid, arrogant anchor, who is always testy and combative. Would he like Letterman talking about his daughter or wife! ?!

Yes I am a liberal and a woman who was at the start of the women's movement. I have a daughter and a grand-daughter. Would I be upset if Mr. Letterman made jokes about them? Not if I put them out there, exposed to the world. The joke was made about the 18 year old, anyone with a brain knows that. You know the unwed mother that is now out there as a spokesperson for "Abstinence". HELLO!!! Really worked for you. How about education and birth control? Teen-agers have always had sex and WILL ALWAYS HAVE SEX! Educate them and give them protection. Thank God John McCain lost this last election and one of the main reasons, the idiot he picked for a running mate. Heaven help us!!

FIREDAVIDLETTERMAN! Hell No! Extend his contract and give him a hugh raise! He's a comedian, that's his job folks, to tell jokes. Palin put her unwed, pregnant daughter, out there so she's fair game. She's uses her while she tries to get elected and then whins and stays on t.v. for days bitching about it. I thought she was stupid the first time I heard her open her mouth, but now I see how "smart" she really is. This has kept her on t.v. for days. PLEASE GO BACK TO ALASKA AND TAKE CARE OF YOUR FAMILY AND STATE!!!! What an ignorant bitch! I'm just sorry that Mr. Letterman apoligized tonight. Riley Mendez

i think david ought to be let go for at least as long as imus didn't work. this was disgusting . people shoud get over the sexist thinking. shame on him. remember he "knocked up" his girlfriend and didn't marry her for many years. he would not appreciate it if people talked about his family over a national network. he does deserve to be fired, just to make things right.

I think David Letterman should be axed. He has been cruel to too many people...and this is not funny!! His remarks about Sarah Palin's daughter was the last straw. I haven't been a fan of his since he held Harvey Pekar up to ridicule so many years ago. He invites people on and then mis-treats them, as he did Bill O'Reilly. This is a classless thing to do. I never see Jay or Conan do this stuff... Being a jerk is not funny. I will not watch his program..I don't care WHO his guests are!! Conan is my choice for late night viewing!!

David Lettermann must be fired. I am Democrat and had the opportunity to visit Auburn N.Y. last week when Gov. Sarah Palin was invited to speake at th 50th anniversary of the state of Alaska and it is the home of Secretary State Seward who purchased Alaska back in the 1800's. The Governor was well recieved with up to 30,000 thousand people coming out to celebrate Auburn N.Y. first Founders Day celebration. The Governor was gracious and beautiful and truly appreciative of the warm welcome central New York gave her. She gave a wonderful speech and later jetted off to Westchester New York to take part in a March for kids with autism. The events were good and David dirty Lettermann has to send her back home with a shameful ,disgrace I ask woman and mothers voice your opposition FIRE Lettermann

I am sick of the liberal media. This is just a good example of how they treat Sarah Palin. Letterman should be fired. Who does he think he is. It's like the pot calling the kettle black. How would he like it if someone said that his wife got knocked up by someone. Everyone must have forgotten that he did not marry the mother of his child until after the baby was born. Where are all the women's rights groups? They have all gone liberal too!! The liberals must be afraid of Sarah Palin. She tells it like it is and they don't want to hear about. Good for her!!!! It is time for the American people to wake up and see what is happening to our country. All of our politicians are worried about re-election, not about what is right and what is wrong.

By all means, David Letterman should be off the air completely! NOT FUNNY at ALL! Obviously David Letterman needs a dose of MORALS!!!!! It really does not matter which daughter he was commenting about....he NEVER should have said anything at all. Kind of makes me wonder what is really on HIS mind... as far as I can see, nothing but filth. I think David Letterman is a sick individual and should NOT be able to show his absolute stupidity on the air, don't we get enough of that from our government. David Letterman should beg for the child's forgiveness. Mel Lancaster S.C.

David Letterman has stooped to the lowest level I have ever seen in a public position. It is past time time for him to go. He has become the representative of the leftest liberal low life. In addition to a boycot of any advertisers for his program, we should also boycot CBS news and any advertisers for the "Comunist Broadcasting System". We need to stand up for America and get rid of Letterman and CBS.

I would like to thank Michael Patrick Leahy for his efforts in improving David Letterman's ratings and for confirming his and Sarah Palin's ignorance rather than leave us all to only suspect it.

David Letterman is all about cheap laughs, but that's what it is these days. He didn't pick on the Palins any more than other guests. Have you ever watched how he treats Richard Simmons? In any case, Jamie Fox's recent comments were 1000 times worse - unrepeatable the things he said about Miley Cyrus, also under-age. To pick on Letterman and not Fox would make you a racist. Letterman has been doing the same thing for decades.
