Citigroup to Target US Hispanic Market Through Banamex
(BNamericas.com) - US-based financial services giant Citigroup (NYSE: C) is using its Mexican subsidiary Banamex to target the growing US Hispanic market, the Financial Times reported. Citigroup acquired Banamex last year for a stunning $12.5 billion to increase its footprint in Mexico and to take advantage of Banamex's brand recognition among Mexicans living in the US. Banamex is one of Mexico's largest banks in terms of assets.

Menendez Eyes Democratic Caucus Chair
Rep. Bob Menendez of New Jersey, a candidate to fill the chairmanship of the Democratic caucus in the U.S. House of Representatives, said Thursday he would give Hispanics a voice in the party's upper echelon if chosen.

Latinos Comprise 9 percent of U.S. Internet Users
Latinos now account for 9 percent of all U.S. Internet users, and the "digital divide" separating Hispanics and other minorities from the white population may be slowly closing, a survey by Rochester-based consulting firm Harris Interactive shows.

U.S. Jobless Rate Hits 6.0 Percent
The US jobless rate leapt to a near eight-year high of 6.0 percent in April, the government said Friday, smothering speculation of a rate rise before August.
