The National Council of La Raza is a community-based organization that promotes professional growth and leadership in the Hispanic community. The Esteban E. Torres NCLR – Harvard Mid-Career Fellowship Program offers $22,000 for one year of study at the John F. Kennedy School of Government. After completing the fellowship, recipients are required to spend the next two years working in the Hispanic community.
Qualifications: Must be of Hispanic descent. Must have worked for seven years, five of those in a Hispanic organization or a mainstream organization targeting the Hispanic community, or be an employee of NCLR.

The Hispanic Scholarship Fund, together with the Association of Latino Professionals in Finance and Accounting (formerly the American Association of Hispanic Certified Public Accountants), provides scholarships for college undergraduate and graduate students pursuing degrees in accounting or finance-related fields. Students who have demonstrated an interest in accounting are encouraged to apply for the scholarships, which range from $1,000 to $5,000 and are awarded primarily on the basis of academic achievement, financial need, and community involvement. Qualifications: Students must be of Hispanic descent, enrolled in a graduate program with an accounting emphasis, or in the last year of a five-year accounting program. Must have a minimum 3.0 GPA (accounting and overall).

The Hispanic Scholarship Fund, in partnership with the National Society of Hispanic MBAs, provides financial resources to assist outstanding Hispanics pursuing master’s degrees in management or business. The awards range from $2,500 to $10,000. Check the Web site for more information.
Qualifications: Applicants must be U.S. citizens or have permanent residency; must have Hispanic ethnic parentage; must be accepted to an accredited graduate college or university; must show current participation in community development or community service; and must have financial need and be able to demonstrate notable academic performance.

A $5,000 scholarship for upper-division undergraduate or graduate students studying public administration, governmental accounting, finance, political science, economics, or business administration with a focus on government or nonprofit management.
