Sergeant Laperle is being recognized today for her exemplary clerical work throughout her career in the Canadian Forces and for her remarkable leadership and dedication during charity campaigns.

Soprano Suzie LeBlanc has given numerous concerts in Europe, North America and Japan. She also founded the Academie Baroque de Montreal, which promotes baroque music.

Sebastien Lefebvre and Jean-Francois Stinco

The popular rock group Simple Plan, to which Mr. Lefebvre and Mr. Stinco belong, is concerned about problems facing youth. Through its foundation, the group promotes music as a stimulating way for young people to find their passion and purpose in life, avoid street gangs and stay in school.

The medals awarded to Pierre Bouvier, Charles Comeau and David Desrosiers will be presented to them at a later date.

Mr. Ludwig has greatly supported fundraising campaigns promoting prostate cancer research and men's mental health, recently raising close to $100,000 for the Movember campaign.

Now retired, Chief Lunney has been a true leader in policing for more than 40 years, having namely served with the RCMP, the cities of Edmonton and Winnipeg, and as president of the Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police.

Ms. MacKay is a visual artist and writer. Having overcome great obstacles herself, she is now an advocate and spokesperson for mental health issues.

Ms. Milmore, a veteran of the Royal Canadian Air Force, has been a member of the Royal Canadian Legion for more than 50 years. She has also assisted at the National Remembrance Day Ceremony for more than three decades.

Master Warrant Officer Keith Paul Mitchell, C.V., M.S.M., C.D.

LaSalle, Quebec and Kentville, Nova Scotia

Master Warrant Officer Mitchell is one of only 20 Canadians to have been awarded the Cross of Valour, Canada's highest decoration for bravery. The search and rescue technician jumped into freezing Arctic waters to provide aid to a critically ill fisherman onboard a ship.
