To help protect employees without a sit-stand workstation against the adverse effects of sitting and influence more movement, ProMedica is implementing an education component to the program which includes instructional videos that teach stretching exercises as well as how to ergonomically set up their workstations and chairs. Beyond that, executives and managers have been enlisted to lead by example by encouraging standing during meetings and setting calendar reminders to stretch.
"The entire management team, including the CEO, is advocating standing more throughout the day," said Ritzler. "Not only does our CEO have his own WorkFit workstation, he is vocal in encouraging employees to stand and shares his passion with community and business leaders to evaluate it for their own employees as well."
The "Take a Stand" program is just one of the company's efforts to promote employee wellness which earned ProMedica recognition from the American Heart Association as a Platinum-Level Start! Fit-Friendly Company.
