USDA Texas Farm Service Agency Acting State Executive Director James B. Douglass announced that two Internet-based virtual meeting webinars are scheduled in October to discuss FSA, Rural Development and Natural Resources Conservation Service program updates as well as the USDA Hispanic and Women Farmer and Rancher Claims Process.
The claims process opened Sept. 24 and closes on March 25. The first webinar occurred Tuesday and the second is set for 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday. The voluntary claims process will make available at least $1.33 billion for cash awards and tax relief payments, plus up to $160 million in farm debt relief, to eligible Hispanic and women farmers and ranchers. There are no filing fees to participate in the program.
The webinars are free and open to the first 1,000 participants who register. Douglass said the webinars are intended as forums to discuss the general plan for the claims process and USDA webinar hosts will not be able to discuss the details of any individual claim during the course of the webinars.
