Born in Puerto Rico, she holds a bachelor's degree from Barnard College and a master's from Queens College.

He developed relevant expertise at Hewlett-Packard, where, as president of H-P's consumer business, he spearheaded development of its digital imaging and electronic publishing business, generating worldwide revenue of more than $16 billion. He was elected an officer of the company in 2002. He holds an executive doctorate in management from Case Western Reserve University, an MBA in finance from the University of Rochester, a JD from New York University, and a BS in psychology from Houghton College.
