Antonio Flores
President and Chief Executive Officer, Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities
Mr. Flores is the leading voice for the nation's Hispanic higher-education community through HACU, which represents institutions in Latin America and Spain, and represents 360 colleges and universities that collectively serve more than two-thirds of all Hispanic higher-education students in the United States. Flores, a recipient of Hispanic Business magazine's Lifetime Achievement Award, also is chairman of the Hispanic Association on Corporate Responsibility.
Alex Garcia
Co-Founder and Principal, El Taller Colaborativo PC
Mr. Garcia has grown his architectural, engineering, and planning firm in New Jersey from a two-man operation to nearly 100 employees, three offices, and annual billings of more than $10 million. The company has been involved in such high-profile projects in the Metropolitan New York area as the Hudson-Bergen Light Rail Transit System, and the Newark Liberty International Airport Rail Station, which connects the AirTrain to the Northeast Corridor.
Senator Efrain Gonzalez Jr.
New York State, 31st District
Senator Gonzalez was elected to the New York State Senate in 1989 in a special election. Since his election, he has focused on the revitalization of the Bronx. As a result, Senator Gonzalez has been on the forefront of the battle for economic development, education, affordable housing, health reform and the fight against crime and drug abuse.
Melinda Guzman-Moore
Partner, Goldsberry, Freeman, Guzman & Ditora, LLP
Chairwoman, California Hispanic Chambers of Commerce
Ms. Guzman-Moore practices business law, tort, labor and employment litigation and is a former partner of Diepenbrock, Wulff, Plant & Hannegan LLP. As chairwoman of the California Hispanic Chambers of Commerce, Ms. Guzman-Moore is the first woman to serve in the position and was recently re-elected to a second term. Prior to her current position with the chamber, Ms. Guzmán-Moore served as the Chambers' vice president of the Central Region.
Kaleil Isaza Tuzman
President and Managing Partner, The Recognition Group
Mr. Tuzman is an expert on corporate restructuring and an influential voice on entrepreneurship. As president and founder of The Recognition Group, a turnaround company, Mr. Tuzman has served as an interim CEO for troubled firms in software, technology services, media, and business services fields. Previously, Mr. Tuzman was co-founder and CEO of govWorks Inc., a software-services firm serving state and local government markets.
John C. Lopez
Chairman, Lopez Foods
After selling his Los Angeles McDonald's restaurants in 1992, Mr. Lopez purchased Normac Foods in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, where he was elected chairman and chief executive officer. In 1995, he changed the company name to Lopez Foods Inc. Now, Lopez Foods employs more than 820 people at its corporate headquarters and plants in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Columbus Nebraska, and Guatemala City, Guatemala; and its annual sales are approximately $400 million.
Bill Lowery
Vice President and General Manager, McDonald's New York
Mr. Lowery is responsible for overseeing more than 655 stores in this region. Before being named to his current position in October 2001, Mr. Lowery was senior vice president, Restaurant Support Officer, for the Northeast Division, with responsibilities that included franchising, franchise relations, human resources, development, purchasing, communications and operations to support all of the division's regions.
Hooman Majd
Chief Operating Officer, Arenas Entertainment
Mr. Majd was named in April 2004 to the position of chief operating officer for Arenas Entertainment, a Hispanic-owned and operated film studio. Founded in 1988, the company now encompasses all aspects of production, acquisitions, distribution, marketing, and talent management targeting the U.S. Hispanic audience. In addition to serving as COO at Arenas, Mr. Majd is an independent film producer currently working on two feature films and a television program, a contributing editor at Cargo Magazine, and consultant to the music industry.
