She had been vice president and general manager of Wireline Services for the company, a Verizon affiliate and the largest telecommunications services provider in Puerto Rico, since 1999, responsible for managing the company's sales, marketing and network operations.

She also is a member of the California Board of Regents and serves on non-profit boards including the National Council of La Raza.
