“NASCAR honors the Hispanic community during Hispanic Heritage month at California Speedway’s SONY HD 500,” said Steve Phelps NASCAR Chief Marketing Officer. “This promotion is one of the many steps NASCAR and California Speedway are taking to welcome the Hispanic Community to the exciting world of NASCAR.”
California Speedway President Gillian Zucker remarked, “Our hope is this invitation will grow interest in America’s No. 1 spectator sport among Southern California Latinos. We are confident the Hispanic following will continue to increase with the 2007 entrance of Colombian Juan Pablo Montoya into the NASCAR ranks."
Developed by NASCAR and California Speedway, NASCAR Te Lleva a Las Carreras is supported by local media partners including KWKW ESPN, KBUE-FM, KVEA-TV Telemundo, and La Opinion. The organizers are hoping for high turnouts at upcoming grassroots events in Anaheim, Lynwood, Maywood, Fontana, and Santa Fe Springs. At the events, fans are given the chance to win special NASCAR merchandise and enter the VIP suite contest. On August 24th the grand prize winner will be selected to win the VIP suite at California Speedway.
