Taylor Swift may have won Album of the Year at the Grammys, but her performance alongside Stevie Nicks is causing some people to wonder why the 20-year-old songstress is so popular.
Many critics have slammed her performance of Rhiannon as screechy and off-key.
Swift's legions of fans, however, have defended her and her record label has said that she was having difficulty hearing herself while on stage and the technical problem may have affected the performance.
"This is not 'American Idol,'" Big Machine Records CEO Scott Borchetta said to the Associated Press. "This is not a competition of getting up and seeing who can sing the highest note. This is about a true artist and writer and communicator. It's not about that technically perfect performance."
Swift's performance more likely highlighted the strange pairings of contemporary artists with stars of yesterday. Rather than hearing singers such as Lady Gaga, Swift and Carrie Underwood sing their hits, instead they were forced to sing with others, leaving viewers with a feeling of dissatisfaction.
Here's the video of her performance.
