Colombian-born Shakira is the latest celebrity to come forward to help Haiti. The singer of "Hips Don't Lie," plans to pay for the building of a new school for children in Haiti.
Shakira's Barefoot Foundation will partner with Architecture for Humanity to build the school. Her Barefoot Foundation, based in Colombia, provides education and support for children.
Shakira said while there is a huge immediate need for care and assistance, building a new school will help Haiti with its long-term goal of rebuilding after the tragic 7.0 earthquake a week ago that killed up to 100,000 people. The exact death toll may never be known.
