The Senate Judiciary Committee on Tuesday confirmed the nomination of Judge Sonia Sotomayor to the Supreme Court.

The panel voted 13-6, mostly along partisan lines, with only one Republican joining the Democrats.

Now, Sotomayor's nomination bid advances to the full Senate. At least five Republicans have announced they plan to vote for her, making her confirmation all but certain, according to CNN.
