Two days after a shouting match between Perez Hilton and the Black Eyed Peas' will.i.am turned violent, the fur continued to fly on Tuesday, with the band's manager being charged with assault and a gay rights group demanding an apology -- ironically -- from Perez, the gay male who was assaulted.
Hilton and the music group were in Toronto Sunday night for the Much Music Awards show. Afterwards, while at the Cobra Club, Hilton and Black Eyed Peas frontman will.i.am got into a verbal spat about Hilton not liking the band's new album.
Their argument hit a crescendo when Hilton -- who is openly gay -- called will.i.am gay, using the term "f**got."
This precipitated a scuffle in which Hilton said he was clocked "two or three timies" in the right eye. (Click here to watch a video of the skirmish.)
Hilton said the assailant was Black Eyed Peas manager Polo Molina, 36. Molina later turned himself in to the Toronto police, who warned that the band would be forbidden to leave Canada otherwise. Molina has been charged with assault.
Then, the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) jumped into the fray, demanding an apology from Hilton for using the slur.
"We have reached out to Hilton and asked him to apologize for promoting this anti-gay slur, and we would ask media outlets to avoid repetition of the slur in their coverage of this story."
Hilton, who worked for GLAAD as a media-relations assistant before becoming a famous blogger, struck back at the organization.
In a statement to TMZ, Hilton said, "I am saddened GLAAD chose to victimize me further by criticizing me for how I non-violently dealt with a very scary situation that, unfortunately, turned violent."
