Fedor Emelianenko will battle Brett "The Grim" Rogers on CBS Saturday night in a television even that is expected to draw big ratings.
CBS is taking another plunge into the world of mixed martial arts, after a failed venture with EliteXC last year. Now CBS has partnered with San Jose-based Strikeforce to televise live primetime events.
Strikeforce is the hottest new brand in mixed martial arts and could give UFC some still competition in 2010.
Strikeforce signed Emelianenko, who was highly sought after by UFC earlier this summer, a former star in Japan's Pride fighting mixed martial arts league.
Emelianenko is widely regarded as the best heavyweight in the world. But he is taking on Rogers, who is a rising star, with a wicked right hand.
The card begins at 9 p.m. EST on CBS.
