Charles Barkley jumped on the Sammy Sosa hog pile today, razzing Sosa for using a bleaching cream by applying skin-lightening cream to his own face during Thursday night's on the "NBA on TNT" show.
"I know you want to get in the Hall of Fame, but going white ain't the way to do it," he joked, in a clowning session with co-hosts Kenny Smith and Ernie Johnson Jr. that called to mind locker-room banter.
After featuring before-and-after shots of Sosa, the show portrayed a spoof rendering of what Barkley would look like if his own face were whitened, superimposing the head of lead host Johnson over a still-shot of Barkley's body.
Then a makeup artist came onto the set to apply bleaching cream to Barkley's face.
"I'm tired of getting stopped when I'm driving my fast car around," he declared over the banter of his co-hosts. "I'm tired of being black. I'm like Sammy Sosa I'm tired of getting stopped while driving while black. I'm telling you now, Ernie, I'm going to drive and nobody going to stop me now no matter how fast I'm going."
