Sony Computer AC Adapters Recalled

WASHINGTON (UPI) -- The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced a voluntary recall of Sony computer AC adapters due to a shock hazard.

About 69,000 VAIO AC adapters were imported from China by Sony Electronics Inc. of San Diego, Calif., and sold nationwide from September 2005 through October 2009 for between $900 and $3,300 with desktop computers and between $250 and $350 for docking stations, the commission said in a statement.

Recall involves Sony products with VGC-LT series and VGC-JS2 series adapters for All-in-one VAIO desktop computers and VGP-PRBX1 and VGP-PRFE1 adapters for VAIO docking stations.

Consumers were advised to stop using the recalled AC Adapters and contact Sony for a free replacement.

Consumers can call 877-361-4481 for information.
