LOS ANGELES (UPI) -- Will Smith, Jennifer Lopez, Katy Perry, Adam Lambert, David Cook and Paris Hilton were among those who attended the premiere of "This Is It" in Los Angeles.
The film shows pop icon Michael Jackson in the weeks before he died rehearsing for a series of planned London concerts that never happened. Jackson's death June 25 at the age of 50 was labeled a homicide, but the circumstances are still under investigation.
Also attending Tuesday night's premiere of the documentary at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles were Jackson's brothers, Neil Patrick Harris, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Nigel Lythgoe and Berry Gordy Jr.
"I'm sitting in the nokia theater in awe of the 'this is it' movie!" E! News quoted Paula Abdul as saying via Twitter. "So many emotions are coming up For me I can't believe He's Gone BRILLIANT."
"Michael would have loved this turnout," the film's associate producer and tour choreographer Travis Payne told The Los Angeles Times's Pop & Hiss blog. "It's time to celebrate Michael, to rejoice in all his wonderful messages of peace and love. People are going to enjoy seeing the Michael I always got to see."
Advance screenings of the film were held around the world Tuesday night in anticipation of Wednesday's official opening.
