HIDALGO -- Communities in Mexico and the United States that are in the same time zone are out of sync again -- but only for this week.
Mexico fell back from Daylight Saving Time to Standard Time on Sunday, one week earlier than in the United States. The time difference between communities on opposite sides of the border will require some adjustments to international bridge schedules and for companies involved in the import-export business.
This is not the first time this type of situation has occurred. The two countries were similarly out of sync in the spring, when Mexico sprang forward from Standard Time to Daylight Saving Time a month after the United States made the change.
Ports of entry operated by U.S. Customs and Border Protection in South Texas have announced a revised schedule for the period from Sunday, Oct. 25, to Sunday, Nov. 1, to account for the cross-border time difference.
"Basically, what we are doing is that when (the commercial shipments) come, we will be there," CBP spokesman Felix Garza said in Spanish.
