Kimbo Slice Knocked Out in UFC Debut

Oct. 1, 2009

Joshua Molina, HispanicBusiness.com

Kimbo Slice made his long-awaited debut in the UFC octagon on Wednesday night and here's what we learned: He's a lot like Mike Tyson.

Except for the fact that Mike Tyson actually had a very successful first half of his career.

Slice proved again on Spike TV that as a mixed martial arts fighter, quite simply, that he's not very good. He was TKO'd by a 265 pound Roy Nelson, in the second round.

That means in his last two fights, Slice has been knocked out twice. The first time in 14 seconds.

The big winner was Spike TV and the UFC. Ratings are likely to set records for the cable network. UFC signed Slice to appear in its reality show The Ultimate Fighter as a pure ratings ploy. Slice became the most famous mixed arts fighter in the world after a few backyard street fights went viral on YouTube.

He was signed by EliteXC and appeared on national television on CBS. A month after Slice was knocked out, EliteXC folded, and Slice later found a home with UFC.

Slice's future is uncertain, although the buzz in the MMA world is that he will return to the already-taped show to replace a contestant who gets injured. More Slice and more big ratings to come.

Another title to get you to read and not tell what really happened.. Kimbo was stopped because Roy controlled him and rabbit punched kimbo till the fight was stopped kimbo was concious and didnt look he had been in a fight. Worst fight I've seen. The article title should have been "Roy vs Kimbo worst slap fight ever!"

The "Fight" between Roy Big Country Nelson and Kimbo Slice was lame. You can’t even call that a fight. Kimbo Slice has a lot more to show but Roy Nelson gave him a lame opportunity to show his fight. Nelson did not control his ground game with skill nor power. He’s too damn fat!The ref had a lot of fault too! Why would he stop the fight??? Those punches weren’t fazing Kimbo at all! Roy Nelson is an experienced fighter but that doesn’t mean he’s a good fighter. It just means he’s had other opponents to smother with his fat! Kimbo is a great stand up fighter, and once he gets some more ground game experience, he’s going to be an Ultimate Fighter!

The above post about "kimbo is a real fighter" is one of the least intelligent fanboy posts i have read in awhile. To say someone doesnt know how to fight because he wouldnt stand still and square so a lumox like Kim could hit him actually reveals your own knowledge/skill level of actual fighting or lack thereof. Kimbo is great at fighting thugs in backyards and parking lots. Kimbo is great at looking tough with his entourage and 7 year old hummer. Anytime he fights anyone with a shred of skill he loses flat out. He is 0 - 3 against fighters. Maybe he should go back to those backyard brawls for $5k...it did him well enough to draw some strawberries and cluckers.

This is so not true, that was no knock out!!!! That enormous man, along with many others do not know how to fight!! The only reason he supposedly won that fight is because he couldn't stand like a man and fight the slice!!!! if he did, he would of gotten killed!!!!!!!! Those stupid so called punches that he was trying to deliver were weaker than than a five year old punch. Kimbo is a fighter, not a burger!!!!!
