Executive Peter Sanchez has been elected 2009 chairman of the board of the National Hispanic Cultural Center Foundation.
Sanchez is chief executive officer of The Atrisco Cos., which includes the Atrisco Heritage Foundation, El Campo Santo and Atrisco Oil & Gas LLC.
"We look forward to Peter's strong leadership that will guide the foundation to the next level of success on a local, regional and national level," said Clara Apodaca, president and CEO of the Albuquerque, N.M.-based nonprofit charitable foundation. "The admirable dedication and commitment of the full board will allow the foundation to continue to achieve its important fundraising goals."
Sanchez called it an honor to be chosen by his fellow board members. "I look forward to working with them and the foundation staff to support the needs of the National Hispanic Cultural Center," he said.
Before joining Atrisco, headquartered in Albuquerque, Sanchez held executive-level positions with companies in the technology and energy fields. He holds a bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of New Mexico and a doctorate degree in jurisprudence from the University of Houston Law Center.
Officers from 2008 who will continue in their posts for 2009 are: Vice Chair Janice Paster, attorney at law; Treasurer George S. Goldstein, Ph.D, executive vice president, Molina Healthcare Inc.; Secretary Orlando T. Padilla, director, Public Policy Center, General Motors; and 2008 Chair Aileen Armijo Garcia, a retired educator, will serve as past chair.
