PHILADELPHIA, July 22 /PRNewswire/ -- The Greater Philadelphia Tourism Marketing Corporation (GPTMC) will join thousands of members of the media at UNITY '08: A New Journalism for a Changing World, July 23-27 in Chicago, to promote Philadelphia and The Countryside(R). During the five-day convention, GPTMC will host three media receptions in conjunction with the local Philadelphia chapters of the National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ) and the National Association of Hispanic Journalists (NAHJ). Other partners include the National Constitution Center (NCC) and the Multicultural Affairs Congress (MAC).
The receptions are as follows:
-- Historic Philadelphia Media Reception, July 24 - Attendees will discover Historic Philadelphia, an area filled with history, restaurants, shops, galleries and more. The event will highlight Headed to the White House at Historic Philadelphia's National Constitution Center, an exhibition that takes visitors through the presidential process.
-- Greater Philadelphia Media Reception, July 25 - Guests will meet members of PABJ (Philadelphia Association of Black Journalists), a finalist for NABJ Chapter of the Year and the host for the NABJ 2011 convention in Philadelphia.
-- UNITY GLBT Mixer, July 25 - GPTMC, responsible for the renowned Philadelphia - Get Your History Straight and Your Nightlife Gay(R) campaign, and Cox Communications sponsor this event that gives GLBT attendees and their like-minded allies a chance to network and discuss fair and inclusive news coverage.
