LOS ANGELES, Nov. 17 /PRNewswire/ -- Hispanic Business(R) magazine honored VisionIT CEO David Segura at its 18th Annual EOY Awards Gala on Thursday, November 6th at the Millennium Biltmore Hotel in Los Angeles, California.
The event recognizes Hispanic entrepreneurs who have worked to advance the U.S. Hispanic market in seven distinct industry categories, as well as one overall Hispanic entrepreneur. In addition, this year's Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to Dr. Lydia Villa-Komaroff. Elizabeth Espinosa, anchor for the KTLA Morning News served as Mistress of Ceremonies.
David Segura was the big winner of the evening, taking home both the InfoBusiness and overall Hispanic Business EOY awards. VisionIT has become nationally recognized in the IT industry for providing staffing solutions to an ever-growing list of Fortune 500 corporations and government agencies. Over the past decade, Mr. Segura's company has become one of the largest diversity-owned IT firms in the nation, with offices nationwide. Mr. Segura holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from the University of Michigan.
Dr. Villa-Komaroff is regarded as one of the most influential role models in the U.S. Hispanic community. Growing up in Santa Fe, New Mexico, Dr. Villa-Komaroff developed a love of science that lead her to such institutions as the University of Washington, Goucher College in Maryland and the prestigious Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where she conducted her post-graduate studies. Ms. Villa-Komaroff is currently the CEO of Cytonome, a biotechnology company that is building the first optical human cell sorter for therapeutic use.
