Proactive: Board Appointments, New Partners, and a Chance to Help the Census

The Board of Directors for Pediatrix Medical Group, Inc., elected Dany Garcia to a newly created seat. Ms. Garcia is the founder and CEO of JDM Partners, LLC, and investment advisory firm based in Miami, Florida.

Ms. Garcia's appointment to the board of Pediatrix, a provider of neonatal, maternal-fetal and pediatric physician subspecialty services, reflects her commitment to education and the welfare of children. She is the founder and president of The Beacon Experience, which provides educational and social tutoring opportunities for at-risk children; a co-founder and vice president of children's charity The Rock Foundation; and a member of the national board of the "I Have a Dream" Foundation. She is also a trustee at the University of Miami and a Director of the Florida International University Foundation board.

Schwartz LLC hired Gil Michel-Garcia as a partner in the global emerging market private equity, corporate and financial transactions law firm. Mr. Michel-Garcia specializes in cross-border securities, private equity and venture capital transactions, and mergers and acquisitions.

He has previously worked as a senior U.S. associate at Stikeman Elliot, LLP, and has advised companies throughout Latin America, Canada, and Europe. Mr. Michel-Garcia is fluent in Spanish and French, and is conversant in Portuguese and Italian.

Please submit a nomination letter and a summary of the candidate's qualifications (resume or CV) by December 5 to Jeri Green, Chief, CAC Office, U.S. Census Bureau, Room 8H182, 4600 Silver Hill Road, Washington, DC 20233, or via fax at 301-763-8609, or by e-mail to jeri.green@census.gov.
