Three Hispanic CEOs, whose entrepreneurial instincts helped them build successful high-tech companies, share their hard-earned wisdom and experience in Hispanic Business magazine's Technology Report featured in the May issue. Frank Huerta of Recourse Technologies (Internet security devices), Fabian Oliva of Refense Technologies (wireless network security software), and Michael French of Network Architechs (network infrastructure) are prime examples of U.S. Hispanic entrepreneurs who overcame start-up challenges, built strong companies with sizable profits, and then sold their companies to larger corporations. The technology report also reveals how Hispanic-owned companies are turning to web-based sales and advertising to generate revenue growth.

"The entrepreneurial spirit is alive and well. There's still a lot of money for investment, but those funds are more selective than during the [dot-com] boom days," states Steve Montoya, vice-president of Hispanic-Net, a group that promotes Hispanic high-tech entrepreneurs and executives in Silicon Valley.

The May issue also features the 2006 Nonprofit Report with a list of the Top 25 Nonprofits serving U.S. Hispanics, as well as heightened emphasis on reporting ROI in terms of social change. "Funding sources are becoming more interested in measurement reports that emphasize the scope and level to which nonprofits fulfill their mission," states Tina Galloway, spokeswoman for Maryland-based Goodwill Industries. Online applications have helped simplify the search for funding, but most large private foundations are asking for specific measurable statistics to justify their involvement.

Hispanic Business Media, representing the media properties of Hispanic Business Inc., provides innovated branding and targeted marketing solutions across multiple platforms of award-winning print editorial, fresh online content, and exclusive events that draw the most affluent and influential Hispanic leaders in the nation.
