--> Beverly Hills, CA--(HISPANIC PR WIRE)--November 15, 2005--Hispanic Business magazine held its 15th annual EOY awards gala this past Thursday, November 10th at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, California. The festive gala recognizes Hispanic entrepreneurs in five distinct categories who have worked to advance the Hispanic market, as well as the top Hispanic Entrepreneur of the Year. The gala’s keynote speaker, Fabian Nuñez, the Speaker of the California Assembly, praised the nominees and winners for “building a stronger community for all of us”, and recognized the important role Hispanic entrepreneurs play in shaping the state’s economy. Melinda Guzman, Chairwoman of the California Hispanic Chambers of Commerce, served as the night’s Mistress of Ceremonies.
The big winner of the night was David Hernandez, CEO-Chairman of Liberty Power, who took home the award for Rising Star as well as Entrepreneur of the Year. Liberty Power, which is headquartered in Ft. Lauderdale, FL, is the only minority-owned retail electric provider in the United States and earned $24.7 million in revenue last year.
Hispanic Business EOY Category winners included Guiomar Obregon of Precision 2000 Inc. for Latina Entrepreneur, Nina G. Vaca of Pinnacle Technical Resources for Infobusiness, Michael J. Shaw of Mike Shaw Automotive for Heavy Industry, and Merrel Virgen of Virgen Advertising Corp. for Trade Industry.
