MOORESVILLE, N.C., June 14 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Lowe's Companies, Inc. announced today that it will be the title sponsor of the World Cup qualifying soccer game between Mexico and Dominique to be played June 19 at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas.

The match is one of two games being played by the teams as part of the process of qualifying for the World Cup soccer championship in Germany in 2006. The second match will take place on June 27. Both games will be broadcast live by Telemundo.

"Lowe's has a deep commitment to our customers, and we want to be a part of the events about which they are passionate," said Gail Cox, Lowe's director of multi-cultural marketing. "Sponsorship of this world-class event is one of many ways Lowe's is connecting with our Hispanic customers while, at the same time, helping to extend the reach of truly great soccer to even more Americans across the country."

The Lowe's NASCAR Fan Experience will also be on site the day of the soccer match from 1:00 to 5:30 p.m. in the Sunset Station parking lot. Because soccer is a family-oriented past-time, the Fan experience will provide a great avenue for bringing families together to enjoy both soccer and NASCAR. Lowe's will offer How-To Clinics for kids in both Spanish and English at the Fan Experience. Children will have the chance to build a birdhouse or a Lowe's #5 Kyle Busch racecar at these How To Clinics. There will be activities for all ages plus music and food vendors as part of the pre-game festivities.

Lowe's has been helping people in Texas maintain, improve and enjoy their homes since 1979. The company currently has 87 stores in the state, including seven in the San Antonio area. With 140 new stores planned for 2004, Lowe's is opening a new store every three days, on average.

With fiscal year 2003 sales of $30.8 billion, Lowe's Companies, Inc. is a FORTUNE 50 company that serves approximately 10 million customers a week at more than 975 home improvement stores in 45 states. In 2004, FORTUNE named Lowe's America's Most Admired Specialty Retailer for a second consecutive year. Based in Mooresville, N.C., the 58-year old company is the second- largest home improvement retailer in the world. For more information, visit Lowes.com .
