California authorities have issued the celebrity gossip website Radar Online four citations for violating state child labor laws for its filming of Nadya Suleman's octuplets, reported the L.A. Times. The office of the state labor commissioner has fined the Web site $3,000 for not obtaining the proper entertainment permits to film two of the babies, Isaiah and Noah, and for filming them for more hours than allowable by state law. The law states that newborns may only be filmed for up to 20 minutes per day.

Los Angeles attorney Gloria Allred held a press conference earlier today to discuss the ramifications of the child law violations, which she had already accused Suleman of in May. Allred has been acting as the octuplets' voice at a time when they are still too young to speak for their rights. Besides expressing concern about their entertainment contracts, the lawyer has in the past also insisted that any money made from the taping of the children should be theirs and should not be used to benefit Suleman and her household.

Radar Online contests that it was not required to obtain the said permits because the Web site classifies itself as a "news gathering" site and a member of the journalism industry, not as a part of the entertainment industry, according to The Hollywood Gossip. Radar Online has been taping the lives of the unemployed mother of 14 and her octuplets since Suleman brought the first two home from the hospital in March 2009.
