Mr. Delgadillo became the highest-ranking Hispanic to win a Los Angeles city-wide office in more than 100 years when he became city attorney in 2001. During his tenure, he has created Operation Bright Future, a tough anti-truancy program. He also created the Neighborhood Prosecutor Program, in which prosecutors work in neighborhoods and deal with quality-of-life crimes. Previously, Mr. Delgadillo was the Deputy Mayor of Los Angeles for Economic Development.
