| Chairman California Democratic Party Former state senator Art Torres was elected chairman of the California Democratic Party in 1996. He is credited with helping turn the party into a national powerhouse; currently, all but one of the statewide officers in California are Democrats. In 2000, he became president of the Walter Kaitz Foundation, a nonprofit organization that promotes diversity in the cable and broadband industry. |
