The Senate confirmed Mr. Barreto in July to head the SBA. As administrator, he will oversee 2,800 employees and a budget of some $540 million. He brings first-hand knowledge of Hispanic economic issues, having served as chairman of the Latin Business Association, a founding member of the New America Alliance, and vice-chairman of the United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. He owns Barreto Insurance & Financial Services Inc. in Los Angeles.
