In May, Mr. Garza became San Antonio’s second Hispanic mayor when voters overwhelmingly supported him at the polls. He has a history of working on inner-city projects and urban development. Previously, he served on the San Antonio City Council for five years, including stints on the Housing Task Force, International Trade Committee, and Small Business Strategy Committee. In 1999, Mr. Garza was appointed president of San Antonio Housing Trust Finance Corp.
