Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense Drug Enforcement Policy and Support Secretary of Defense Washington, DC Ms. Salazar is the highest ranking Hispanic woman in the Defense Department. She oversees a $1 billion dollar budget for 120 anti-drug programs in the U.S. and more than 20 countries. In October 1999, she sponsored the Pentagon’s "Red Ribbon Celebration", an event that encourages children to say no to drugs. She played a key role in developing counter-drug surveillance flights to the Central American region after the U.S. departed Panama. |
