Director California Dept. of Public Social Services, State of California Sacramento, CA Ms. Saenz oversees more than 4,000 employees and an annual budget of $16 billion. Department programs include: Welfare-to-Work, food stamps, foster care, adoptions, child abuse prevention, refugee support services, special services to blind and deaf, and emergency assistance. The agency also licenses child-care centers, group homes, and adult residential care facilities. Her immediate plans are to improve services for foster-care children and streamline the welfare-work program. |
