It's not even Halloween, and many a child is already pining for the Christmas season. They're not alone -- Sears is right there with them. But, unlike a child, Sears has the power start a Holiday season a bit early, but offering holiday specials well ahead of December. Specifically, Sears is enacting "Black Friday Now."
"Black Friday" is the day after Thanksgiving, dubbed such because it's the first Christmas shopping day of the year, and often miscredited as being the busiest shopping day of the year (though it is certainly an extremely busy shopping day). "Cyber Monday," the online version of "Black Friday," takes place three days later. Somewhat incongruously, Sears, Roebuck and Co. has chosen the Saturdays leading up until Christmas to unveil its weekly "Black Friday Now" specials, with the exception of the kick-off week, in which "Black Friday Now" starts Oct. 30 at 5 p.m., still running through Saturday.
Some of the sample deals released by Sears include half-off Craftsman 302-piece mechanic's tool sets; reduced-price Christmas trees; and bargains on diamond earrings.
