Timothy Campos is a rapidly rising star in Silicon Valley, and many observers expect he’ll be running a major tech company fairly soon. For now, Campos is very happy at Facebook because the company is the darling of the tech sector. With a market capitalization of nearly $150 billion, Facebook has been busy acquiring tech companies and delivering strong returns to investors.

Mr. Campos joined Facebook in August 2010, coming from KLA-Tencor, where at age 32 he became the youngest chief information officer of a Fortune 500 company.

After graduating from the University of California, Berkeley, Mr. Campos started as a software engineer at Sybase and then moved to Silicon Graphics as senior engineering manager. Prior to moving to the semiconductor and database company KLA-Tencor, he served as director of engineering for the startup firm Portera Systems.

Mr. Campos serves on the board of directors for the Hispanic IT Executive Council, along with numerous other organizations.

Darrell Higueros, President & CEO, Next Generation Inc.

Darrell HiguerosThe low-key Darrel Higueros isn’t a household name even though he is the president and CEO of Next Generation, a Chicago-area consulting firm. But that is quickly changing after Mayor Rahm Emanuel appointed Mr. Higueros to Chicago’s Tech Diversity Council.

The council was tasked with helping Mr. Emanuel increase the percentage of minority employees at technology firms and increasing the number of minority-owned tech companies in the Chicago region. They are also tasked with creating a pipeline for students in the Chicago public schools and colleges to transition to the technology economy.

Mr. Higueros’ company is a full-service information and technology firm that provides workforce management and ERP solutions. Next Generation Inc. is a certified Minority Business Enterprise (MBE) and a Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE).
