In one of the most important advances in free-to-air television in
Is it hard to get? When does it happen, and will it be difficult to enable FreeviewPlus on my LG Smart TV?
Relax. The answer to these quite understandable questions (in order) is, 'It's super-easy' and 'In early September*, LG will make the new service available on some of its 2014 webOS Smart TV models** via a software update shortly after the service launches.' Once you're all updated and undergo a factory default reset, it is ready to go. FreeviewPlus can be accessed by pushing a green button on LG's Magic Remote and BOOM! - a veritable trove of quality free-to-air content will be available at your TV-hungry fingertips.
What LG has to say about FreeviewPlus
'We're all about giving LG users greater choice and flexibility.' said Lambro Skropidis, General Manager Marketing at LG Australia.
With FreeviewPlus, that means accessing a huge range of free-to-air content they want from their Smart TV. Better still, they can still commit to their everyday obligations like mowing the lawn or throwing a ball with the kids, but not ever miss out on shows they love.
'LG Smart TVs offer a great range of choices for consumers,' continued Skropidis, 'and the addition of FreeviewPlus is further proof of our desire to continue delivering on that reputation.'
Which LG Smart TV models will support FreeviewPlus?
FreeviewPlus will be available on all 2014 Full HD, webOS-enabled LG Smart TVs from the beginning of September. Thereafter, all 2014 webOS-enabled ULTRA HD LG Smart TVs will support the service from mid-September followed by all the other 2014 LG Smart TVs by the end of September.

FreeviewPlus also delivers the Freeview networks' Catch Up services from one place on the TV screen for the first time. FreeviewPlus will also recommend and remind users of the best programs on that day, on Catch Up and in the future. Old favourites haven't been forgotten either; FreeviewPlus will keep 'liked' programs on live and Catch Up TV so you'll always have a bank of favourites to watch.
