September 4, 2014

VANGUARD VIDEO WILL BE DEMONSTRATING VERSION 2.0 OF THEIR INDUSTRY LEADING V.265 CODEC SDK ALONG WITH A TECHNOLOGY PREVIEW OF THEIR GRAPHICS ACCELERATED ENCODER, V.265-GX, MULTINODE ENCODER, AND FPGA 1080P H.265/HEVC ENCODER IP CORE

AMSTERDAM--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Vanguard Video, the leader in professional, broadcast quality video compression technology since 2004, will be exhibiting at IBC 2014 this September 12-16 in Hall 13, MS4. At this year’s show, Vanguard Video will be highlighting several innovative H.265/HEVC solutions including real-time 4Kp60 performance and OpenCL GPU accelerated encoding of 4K content. Vanguard Video will also be previewing their new Multinode Encoder software that allows for parallel H.265/HEVC encoding using Vanguard Video’s V.265 codec SDK. Vanguard Video's partner Barco Silex will be previewing Vanguard Video's Xilinx-based FPGA 1080P H.265/HEVC encoder IP core at their booth.

“IBC is the perfect platform to showcase the impressive HEVC advancements we’ve made since NAB 2014. In addition to the milestone improvements we’ve made in both our V.265 codec SDK v2.0 and the ground-breaking V.265-Gx OpenCL accelerated encoder we will also be demonstrating new encoding technologies like our Multinode Encoder solution,” said Raul Diaz Vanguard Video CEO. “We are known for offering high quality, offline HEVC solutions to top-tier OEMs around the world and our demonstrations at IBC 2014 will expand that reputation as we showcase our advancements in the broadcast market.”

Here is a detailed description of all the H.265/HEVC technologies Vanguard Video will be demonstrating:

V.265 v2.0: Real-time 4Kp60 H.265/HEVC Encoding - the second generation of Vanguard Video's professional software codec, V.265 v2.0, delivers broadcast quality video in 4K resolutions at 60 frames per second. Recognized as a leader in offline quality, this milestone improvement positions V.265 as one of the most robust codecs in the market, offering a complete solution for OEMs looking to broadcast high quality 4K content at cost-saving bitrates.

V.265-Gx: OpenCL GPU Accelerated Encoding - Vanguard Video will be demonstrating its ground breaking V.265-Gx OpenCL Accelerated Encoder, running on Intel's latest Haswell CPU+Iris Pro graphics coprocessor. V.265-Gx OpenCL enables live encoding and decoding of high-quality 4K 30fps content. With advanced encoding algorithms redesigned in OpenCL, this innovative approach more than doubles the performance of a CPU-only software encoder.

Multinode Encoder: Parallel H.265/HEVC Encoding using V.265 CodecSDK- Vanguard Video will be unveiling its innovative Multinode Encoder software package that provides infrastructure for parallel H.265/HEVC encoding using Vanguard Video’s V.265 codec SDK. This software framework has a well-defined API that is compatible with Vanguard Video’s V.265 API, enabling development and deployment of distributed encoding applications for cloud-based, specialized and generic hardware platforms.

H.265/HEVC IP Cores for FPGA Devices - Vanguard Video's H.265/HEVC FPGA IP Cores provide scalability to OEM partners looking to develop complete hardware solutions for video encoders using highly parameterized cores. These cores can be customized and optimized to achieve the desired performance, core size, memory bandwidth, and power consumption of an applications specific feature set.
