ENACT - Enhancing negotiation skills through on-line assessment of competencies and interactive mobile training

September 4, 2014

ENACT aims at providing innovative pedagogy and assessment methods for helping people to enhance and self- assess their negotiation competences based on psychological modelling and the application of current ICT research (e-learning, mobility, internet, artificial intelligence). ENACT will implement: a training methodology, in the form of an online game , which emphasizes practical skills by exploiting an innovative technology that uses autonomous intelligent agents as virtual interlocutors for different target users (students, athletes, employee, managers, trainers) an innovative and scientifically sound assessment methodology, in the form of an intelligent tutor, capable of providing reliable analysis of the user s negotiation skills and communication style. The technology developed by ENACT will be freely accessible online and will exploit modern mobile devices, such as tablets and smartphones, so to address the key priority defined at EU level of bridging social skills development with modern technology. Motivation: The main drive for ENACT comes from the observation of a need, at European level, for flexible, accessible, and affordable learning tools, capable of helping large and heterogeneous groups of people to access informal learning pathways for the autonomous improvement and assessment of their social competences. The rationale for ENACT is that of addressing this need by bridging social skills enhancement and assessment with modern technology. Objectives: ENACT is creating a novel training methodology in the form of an online game , which emphasizes practical skills by exploiting an innovative technology that uses autonomous intelligent agents as virtual interlocutors for different target users (students, athletes, employee, managers, trainers). At the same time is defining an innovative and scientifically sound assessment methodology, in the form of an intelligent tutor, capable of providing reliable analysis of the user s negotiation skills and communication style. Innovation: ENACT points at reaching individuals and organizations that have limited access to soft-skill training and assessment. It allows learners to practice their skills in a safe , highly motivating environment. The user s negotiation skills are assessed by an intelligent artificial tutor. Both the tutor and the agents in the game will be implemented by using the most advanced methodologies in artificial cognitive systems.
