$61.7 million invested to improve water supply in Andijan region

Some $61.7 million was invested to improve water supply in Andijan region, 12news.uz reports.

"The Uzbek Government allocated $54 million loan to provide water supply to settlements. The loan was used to introduce economic variants of water use and to implement new innovative technologies for water treatment," head of central control-analytical laboratory of Andijan water company Rashid Kirichenko said.

The Asian Development Bank also provided a $7.7 million loan for full rehabilitation of 10 km of water pipeline which helped to provide water to three streets of the region.

76 sets of irrigation, 6 strong pumps, generators, polyethylene pipes, compressors and other equipment were purchased.

The project helped to improve water supply for new residential buildings, administrative facilities, fifty parks, schools and cultural institutions.
