ENP Newswire - 03 September 2014

Release date- 02092014 - For the first time, the engineering and technology group SENER will participate in the MSPO International Defence Industry Exhibition to be held in Kielce, Poland from September 1-4.

SENER has had an Engineering and Construction division in Poland since 2006, with headquarters in Warsaw. The group develops high technology projects, including several contracts for the European Space Agency (ESA). The company is in fact one of the major players in the Polish space market.

At the event, SENER will showcase its integrated capacities as a supplier of equipment, system integration and engineering in both the Defence and Space markets. In Defence, SENER is internationally renowned for its complete production lines in control and actuation systems for missiles. It also develops guidance, navigation and control (GNC) systems as well as optical systems for intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) applications, ensuring the maintenance of its products throughout their entire life cycle.

Thus, the most significant projects that will be on display at the exhibition will include missile programs such as the FAS (Fin Actuation Subsystem) of the METEOR defense program, for which SENER is in charge of completing the design and development, and manufacturing all the series units.

FAS is the subsystem responsible for the controlled movements of the missile's fins which guide it on the required trajectory. Models of the actuator subsystems for the Taurus KEPD350 and IRIS-T missile programs will also be on display. SENER has produced hundreds of FAS units for the Taurus KEPD350 long-range missile and it is also the main contractor for the Spanish Air Force's F-18 acquisition program, which entails integrating the subsystem with the plane, supplying the missiles and providing ground support equipment.

Elsewhere, SENER is in charge of the design for the IRIS-T short range missile in its two embodiments: air-to-air (AA) and surface launched (SL). It is the exclusive supplier for the control section of the entire production, in addition to providing assistance and support for the integration of the AA version into the Spanish Air Force's EF-18 fighter.

Furthermore, information from other contracts in ISR will also be provided, such as the SEOSAT/INGENIO project: a Spanish Earth observation satellite for which SENER is in charge of the optical instrument.

With almost half a century of experience in the aerospace sector, the company has gained international recognition. It is now a main contractor for entire systems in the space industry - where it has supplied over 260 devices and systems that have been successfully launched aboard satellites and space vehicles for agencies in the USA (NASA), Europe (ESA), Japan (JAXA) and Russia (Roscosmos) - and in aeronautics, where it is turnkey supplier for production cells, as well as being an expert in aircraft modernization and in the automation of structural assembly and component production processes.

As indicated above, for the defense industry the company also conducts production of complete series and ensures maintenance for the entire product life cycle.
