Polish vocal group OCTAVA ensemble to perform in Istanbul

ISTANBUL (CIHAN)- The Polish vocal octet OCTAVA ensemble will take to the stage in a free performance this week in Istanbul as part of BogaziÇi University's choir festival KoroFest, on the occasion of the celebrations of the 600th anniversary of diplomatic ties between Poland and Turkey.



The ensemble will perform on Friday night at St. Esprit Cathedral on Cumhuriyet Street in Istanbul's Sisli district with a repertoire of songs from the late Renaissance and early Baroque periods.



A joint effort between the Polish Consulate General in Istanbul and the bilingual Polish-English portal culture.pl, operated by Poland'sAdam Mickiewicz Institute, the concert will be one of the 16 performances of KoroFest, which will mark its fifth year from Sept. 2 to 7.



The live gig the group performs in Istanbul will see Anna Magiera, Marta Zagata-Bugajska, Karol Bartosinski, Malgorzata Langer KrÓl, Zygmunt Magiera, Mateusz Prendota, Bartlomiej Pollak and Maciej Druzkowsk sing on the stage. The concert will begin at 8 p.m.



Launched in 2009 by young musicians from BogaziÇi University's music club, KoroFest is the only choir festival in Turkey recommended by the European Choral Association.
