September 3, 2014

Free parking, dance area for live rock and roll, blues performance

GLENWOOD, Ill.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Over 3,000 people sprawled on the driving range at Glenwoodie Golf Club on July 4th, entertained by the nostalgic blues and rock and roll played by Johnny Butane and the Rhythm Flames. It was, in fact, so enjoyable that the Golf Club has decided to do it again.

On Friday, September 12 at 7:00 pm, Johnny and his band will be back, playing a free concert featuring the melodies of Elvis Presley, Marvin Gaye and more at Glenwood, Illinois' Glenwoodie Gazebo, just south of the Clubhouse, west of the 9th Green. Parking is also free.

Tim Donohoe, General Manager and Executive Chef of the Club, said, Theres something for everyone with this band. They are very talented, with a solid reputation for great entertainment in the Midwest. Its a larger band. Five to nine musicians could be playing at any time - guitar, harmonica, horns, keyboards there is a lot of variety in voices and in sound. They plug into the era of the 1950s and 60s and it really comes out in their music.

A dance area will be provided for bopping, jitterbugging, strolling and just plain cutting the rug. The venue provides only lawn seating, so concert-goers are encouraged to bring chairs, small tables and blankets to fully enjoy this summer evening, surrounded by the verdant trees and immaculately manicured grounds of Glenwoodie.

A concert dinner at the Clubhouse should begin your evening, recommends Donohoe. He describes the Tavern Burger, beloved by golfers who frequent the Club; Its a half-pound of freshly ground beef, grilled to perfection, with a horseradish cheese and your choice of lettuce, tomato and onion. It is just delicious one of the best things on our menu. Also available are hot dogs, brats, and salads, including a very popular Chicken Caesar Salad. Its fresh, its crisp and its creamy. Refreshments including soft drinks, beer and wine will be available, all at very reasonable prices.

The concert will end about 10 pm. For more information, call 708-758-1212 or visit

Donohoe smiles, Come out, bring the kids and grandkids. Its going to be a beautiful evening.
