Release date- 02092014 - Together with the change of shareholder of LBBW Bank CZ as of 1 September 2014 Expobank appointed new Board of Directors of its Czech entity.
The new CEO is Maris AvotinS who will be also responsible for Risk Management and Human Resources. Members of the Board will be Renars KaraSs responsible for Individual Banking and Market Management, Boris Cuchran responsible for Operations, IT and Corporate Banking and Miroslav Kohout responsible for Financial Services and Treasury. All the members perceive their appointment as an enormous opportunity to establish Expobank at the Czech banking market as one of the strong, reliable and international banks.

Maris AvotinS (40) has come to the Czech Republic from Latvia where he held a position of the CEO of AS Expobank since 2011. In his new position as a Chairman of the Board of Directors Mr. AvotinS will be responsible for Risk Management and Human Resources.
Previously, he held various top managerial positions in Swedbank, the largest retail banking group in Baltic countries and Scandinavia. During nine years with bank, he was CEO and Chairman of the Board of Swedbank Latvia; previously he was responsible for development of risk management in Latvia and other Baltic countries and Russia as Chief Risk Officer and member of Managerial Board. For number of years he was member of Supervisory Boards of banks in Lithuania and Russia. In Bank of Latvia as Head of Banking Examiners he participated in International Money Fund organized banking sector evaluation in Ukraine and also in US FED organized banking inspection in New York.
Mr. AvotinS is banking professional with extensive 19 years long experience in banking and finance, especially in risk and treasury area and in-depth experience with mergers and international banking. Mr. AvotinS completed his master's degree in economics at University of Latvia and later developed his business skills at INSEAD International Executive Programme. He regularly presents his advantageous ideas at various international conferences. He speaks Latvian, Russian and English.
Mr. AvotinS is married and has one child. He enjoys his leisure time with his family and also likes down-hill skiing and golf.
Renars Karass - ExpobankRenars KaraSs, Member of the Board of Directors responsible for Individual Banking and Market Management
Renars KaraSs (39) joins Czech bank from the Latvian AS Expobank where he held a position of the Advisor to the CEO. He held same position also in Expobank LLC Russia in previous years. Within his new role as a Member of the Board of Directors he will be responsible for Individual banking which includes Private and Personal Banking and Market Management.
In 18 years of his banking career Mr. KaraSs has held various top managerial positions, most of his time devoting to Swedbank Group. From 2004 to 2010 he worked as a member of Management Board and from 2010 as Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Swedbank Group pension funds company; and from 2008 to 2010 as a member of Council of Swedbank Life Insurance SE. Between 2008 and 2013 he was in charge of Retail Sales and Services Department of AS Swedbank in Latvia and previously also in charge of the Investment Products Department. In Expobank his specialities were project management, process and recourses optimisation as well as restructuring and integration of acquired entities into the bank.
Mr. KaraSs received his Executive MBA degree from Stockholm School of Economics in Riga and also graduated at prestigious INSEAD International Executive Programme. Mr. KaraSs speaks fluently Latvian, Russian and English. Mr. KaraSs is married with one child and his passion is photography. He also likes to spend his free time in various activities together with family and friends.
Boris Cuchran - ExpobankBoris Cuchran, Member of the Board of Directors responsible for Operations, IT and Corporate Banking
Boris Cuchran will continue in his position of the Member of the Board of Directors, his responsibilities will include Operations, IT and Corporate Banking.
Mr. Cuchran (48) joined LBBW Bank CZ in January 2012 from Generali Bulgaria, where he held position of company's CEO since 2009 as well as CEO of GP Reinsurance in Bulgaria, a reinsurance company for Generali PPF Group operating in all CEE region. He has more than 19 years of extensive international and domestic experience in banking and insurance sector. Prior to joining LBBW Bank CZ Mr. Cuchran worked in Paris as manager for Groupama International and later as senior management consultant in Deloitte Management Consulting. Later he worked as Executive Director of Strategy Division in CSOB in Prague and within the CSOB group he also worked as CEO of Slovak CSOB Poistovna. Mr. Cuchran later on founded the Czech subsidiary of AEGON insurance company where he also acted as its CEO.
Mr. Cuchran received his JUDr. degree from the Faculty of Law at the Komenskeho University in Bratislava and he also graduated from the prestigious French institution Ecole Nationale d'Administration in Paris and Institute of International relations in Moscow. He speaks fluently Czech, Slovak, Russian, French and English. He is married with two children and dedicates his leisure time to hiking, horse riding and history.
Miroslav KohoutMiroslav Kohout, Member of the Board of Directors responsible for Financial Services and Treasury
Miroslav Kohout (34) has held a position of Head of Finance in LBBW Bank CZ since 2010. In the bank he has also been involved in designing business strategy of the bank, treasury, asset liability management, credit and market risk. Within the Board of Directors of the bank Mr. Kohout will hold a position of the Chief Financial Officer responsible for Financial Services and Treasury.
Prior to joining LBBW Bank CZ he worked as a Financial Auditor at Ernst & Young. Mr. Kohout graduated from the University of Economics, Prague in 2004 and later pursued his studies at the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants where he has become an ACCA Fellow.
Miroslav Kohout speaks fluently English and German. His free time is mostly spent with his family and his three children.
