CeeLo Green has deleted his Twitter account after apologizing for making comments about the definition of rape.

The Crazy singer took to the micro-blogging site after pleading no contest to supplying ecstasy to a woman at a Los Angeles restaurant in 2012.

His lawyers said he had consensual sex with the woman despite her claiming she had no memory of it. No rape charges were filed due to a lack of evidence.

While discussing the case on Twitter Green, 39, wrote: "People who have really been raped REMEMBER!!!

"If someone is passed out they're not even WITH you consciously! so WITH Implies consent."

On Friday the former judge on the US show The Voice was sentenced to three years probation and 45 days of community service.

Before deleting his Twitter account on Monday Green wrote: "Let me 1st praise god for exoneration fairness & freedom! Secondly I sincerely apologize for my comments being taken so far out of context.

"I only intended on a healthy exchange to help heal those who love me from the pain I had already caused from this. Please forgive me as it was your support that got me thru this to begin with. I'd never condone the harm of any women. Thank you."
