Sept. 02--The Salina Airport Authority is expected to approve the lease of a large hangar to Bombardier's Flight Test Center in Wichita when it meets Tuesday afternoon.
Bombardier's Flight Test Center is in need of facilities for aircraft storage, maintenance and flight test activities, according to information from the Salina Airport Authority.
The Salina Regional Airport has a portion of a large bay hangar, Hangar No. 959, available for lease.
Bombardier wants to lease about 27,000 square feet of the hangar for two years and terminate its existing aircraft storage leases in two other hangars at the airport.
To accommodate the storage, maintenance and flight test activities, the airport must also improve the pavement on one of the taxiways, Taxiway G, and the hangar's south parking apron, according to airport officials.
To that end, the Airport Authority has received a commitment for grant funding from the Kansas Department of Transportation, if the lease is finalized.
BombardierLearjet will be charged $15,675 a month in rent for the space.
